A week from" Tuesday there will be election in for-j for-j ty-two States , and three territories. Oregon, Maine and Vermont have already al-ready elected State officers and members mem-bers of 'the Sixtieth Congress. - In twenty-three of the States a Governor and. other State officers (in twenty of them also s Legislature); in ten, minor State officers or Justices of the Supreme Court; in two, Congressmen and a Legislature, Leg-islature, and in seven Congressmen only, are to be eleeted. Oklahoma is to vote on a State constitution, and Arizona Ari-zona and New Mexico on joint Statehood. State-hood. " The terms of thirty United States Senators fifteen Democrats and fifteen Republicans expire March 3, 1907. Virginia, Vir-ginia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky and Arkansas have already selected Democrats, and Georgia bas a Legislature Legis-lature which will elect another, while Maine and Oregon have Legislatures which insure the return of Republicans. Of the twenty-two States in which is to be chosen November 6 a Legislature Legisla-ture that-will elect United States Senators, Sen-ators, fourteen are' now represented in the Senate, by Republicans and eight by Democrats. House to Be Elected. A National House of Representatives is to be elected the Sixtieth Congress, with 386 members. The present House is composed of 250 Republicans and 136 Democrats. Maine has'already elected four Republicans, Oregon two and Vermont Ver-mont two. There is fusion in only one State-Nebraska State-Nebraska where, the Democrats and Populists agreed upon a division -of the State nominations, though in several other States the Republican or Democratic Demo-cratic candidates for State offices have been nominated or endorsed by one or more of the minor parties. As ustal, there is one State ticket the Democratic in South Carolina. Pennsylvania leads this year with the greatest number of State tickets twelve. -Parties , are numerous, those having tickets in the field being Independence Inde-pendence League, Citizens Commonwealth, Common-wealth, City, Referendum, Jefferson, American, anti-Administration, 'Republican, 'Repub-lican, Reorganized Republican, and Lincoln Lin-coln Republican. 8ix'-of them, however, how-ever, are confined to Pennsylvania. Many Socialist Tickets. The Socialists have tickets in 25 States, the Prohitfitionists in 23, Socialist So-cialist Labor in 7, Populists or Peoples ' in 4 and the Independence league in 3, whiles" Public Ownership" has a ticket in one State. The number of tickets in the different dif-ferent States is: 1, South Carolina; 2, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Washington; 3, Delaware, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Rhode Island. Utah; 4, Connecticut, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska. New Hampshire, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming; 5, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, New York, Ohio; 6, Indiana, Massachusetts, Texas; 7, California: 12, Pennsylvania. The Socialists have tickets in California," Cali-fornia," Colorado. Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts. Michigan. Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota. Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Ten-nessee, Texas; Wisconsin. Wvoimng.
