Lockwood of the Twenty-ninth infantry, in-fantry, Sewall, alias Payne, is a deserter from troop A, Second U. 8. cavalry stationed sta-tioned at Fort Asainibone, Mont. The letter of CoL Lockwood state that should the civil authorities fail to con-viet con-viet the man he is to be held for the United States officers to be tried oa the charge of desertion. , In the event of his conviction the XT. S. authorities ask that they be in formed in order that the man be dishonorably dis-honorably discharged from the army. FORGERY CHARGE AGAINST SOLDIER Alleged Deserter From the U. S. Payne, appeared ap-peared before Judge Diehl this morning and listened to the reading of complaints com-plaints charging . him with six counts of forgery alleged to have been committed commit-ted in this city during the last three weeks.
