BARTCH JUDGE BARTCH was born in the State of Pennsylvania, and after having graduated gradu-ated from the State normal school, he began his professional career as a teacher. For a number of years he was the superintendent of the public schools of Shenandoah, and so ably did he fill his position that the public schools of Pennsylvania still retain the impress of his work. He came to Salt Lake City in 1888, and began the practice of law. nowever, a year later he ascended the bench, and as a jurist of great legal ability and integrity he has been known ever since. In 1S93 he was appointed to the District court of the Territory by President Presi-dent Harrison. From 189'J to 1901 he was Chief Justice of the State, and in 1905 he again became Chief Justice. His present term expires ex-pires in 1907. Judge Barteh has ever been a deep student of human affairs, and his keen and clear insight into the law and things have made him an invaluable Judge of the higher court. In private life he is one of Utah's best citizens, always taking a deep interest in the welfare of the citv and State. |
