Show FIELD DAY FOR N COUNTY MEN Athletes Fight for Victory Vic-tory on Calder's Park field: County athletes fought for victory for their respective schools on the field at Calder's park today. The work of the athletes began at 10 o'clock this morning morn-ing with two basketball games, and will end this afternoon with a triangular triangu-lar track and field meet between Jor- dan, Murray and Granite districts. The affair is the big field day of the graduates gradu-ates of Salt Lake county. The winner of the field and .track meet will be presented pre-sented with a handsome trophy cup by Superintendent John W. Smith. The affair opened this morning with a basketball game between Jordan and Granite districts. The affair was one of the most spirited that has been witnessed wit-nessed in. some time. The Granite ' players are stronger than their opponents, oppo-nents, but the Jordan men gave them a - hard fight. The line-up of the two teams was as follows: Granite. Jordan. In the afternoon the field and track events were given. The winning team waft presented with a sliver cup, and the winners of events were given a silver sil-ver medaL The events of the meet were: Shot-put, 100-yard dash, hammer throw, 220-yrd dash, broad Jump, 440-yard 440-yard run. high Jump, 880-yard run, pole vault, and half-mile relay race. |
