Show GOURLEY PLANS NEW ; : HOME OF VAUDEVILLE ', A new home for vaudeville is expected expect-ed to be opened Jn Second South street, between State and Main streets, by August Au-gust SO. The new theater Is to be built by'W.'R. Oourley, proprietor of the Utahna ' playhouse. -According to the prerent plans the .new structure will seat 1800 persons 'and is to cost $18,000. The property on .which the building Is to.be erected .'was secured several months ago by Mr. Gourley, but for several' reasons he withholds the exact location. He has let a contract for building the structure to L D. Martin. Mar-tin. - - The proposed building Is to be fireproof fire-proof and contain all the latest equipment. equip-ment. The seats on the lower floor, will be In leather, for sanitary reasons. It will have a sixty-two-foot front and a Jepth of 120 feet. The lower floor will seat 850, the first balcony 600 and the second oaicony about 500. - - - "We do not intend to build a JIOO.OOO theater." said Mr. Gourley. "but we will build one that Is comfortable and will please our patrons. - It will be used for vaudeville exclusively, and the place we now occupy .will be used for the drama." , |
