Show MAKES AN ARGUMENT FOR MRS. CHADWICK CLEVELAND. O., March 11 J. P. Daw-ley, Daw-ley, senior counsel for Mrs. Chadwlck, resumed re-sumed his argument today. Mr. Dawley made a vigorous onslaught on the evidence submitted by the Government. Gov-ernment. He declared that absolutely nothing had been subnltted tending to prove that prior to spcuring the certification certifica-tion of checks hy Spear. Mrs. Chadwlck had made any agreement or arrangement to that effect with him. He stronply urgod the Jury to rememler that Mrs. Chadwlck was not on trial for getting certified checks illegally, but agreeing beforehand be-forehand with Keckwilh and Rear to procure pro-cure their certification. He dwelt at great length upon the difference between the commission of an act and a conspiracy to procure its commission and asked the Jury to remember that there is as much difference between them as between a horse chestnut and a chestnut horse. |
