Show GENTLEMEN EIDERS DIG UP A SCANDAL. SEATTLE. WaSs.. July lO.-The gentlemen's gen-tlemen's Jockey race at the Meadows developed a scandal, and si a result the Jockeys from the track rode he horses. Dr. Hart Nagel and Mr. Ridgay, who were to have ridden in the pace, stated to officers at the track that money ad been offered them to pull their moifnN;. Rldgway stated that Andy Young, who had secured the riders for the race, and who was to ride Claudator. bad made him an offer of $50 to pull Sweet Tooth the horse he was to ride. riTnf had K,ven the mount on Claudator, which was conceded no chance by horsemen, and when the bet- i ting was posted the money poured In on the lonr shot. When the charges were aired, the Judges oVdered all of the gentlemen riders to be taken down and the regular Jockeys were put up In their places. |
