Show BROKE QUARANTINE BT BINGHAM AND IS FINED NINETY-FIVE DOLLARS For causing a public' funeral of a child afflicted with a virulent case of scarlet fever and breaking quarantine, F. Dalfitrom was fined in Justice of the Peace George A. Lee court In Bingham yesterday. The court Imposed a fine of J95. Considerable excitement prevails In the settlement, as a majority of the population has been exposed to the disease dis-ease through the funeral and Dal-strom's Dal-strom's breaking his quarantine. Dalstrom Dal-strom Is one of the best known men in the place and was one of the candidates for town trustee- on the Socialist ticket at the recent election and was only defeated de-feated by one vote. Several days ago the family of John Enkel arrived from Finland and was housed with the Dalstrom family. Shortly after the arrival of the family, one of the children was stricken with an aggravated case of scarlet fever. A physician, who was placed on the stand stated that nearly 60 per cent of the persons aflllcted with the disease In the form that the child had, die. Undertaker Engaged. After the child's death Dalstrom went up the canyon and secured an undertaker. under-taker. On his return, it became known that the child had died of scarlet fever and the Health department quarantined quaran-tined the place. Dalstrom Dal-strom then went out to the telephone office and called up persons in Salt Lake City. Later he secured the services of a minister to perform the funeral services. ser-vices. A funeral service was then held, which was public. A large number num-ber of persons attended and followed the body to the grave. Dalstrom mingled min-gled among the crowd, it is said. Are Prosecuted. Assistant County Attorney Willard Hanson prosecuted the case. The residents resi-dents of Bingham wore considerably excited over the trial and a large number num-ber of persons attended the session yesterday. Dalstrom has refused to pay the fine and It Is said will appeal the case. |
