Show MAJ. JOHN BYRNE IS DEAD IN NEW YORK NEW TORK. Nov. 1. MaJ. John Byrne, railroad presldest and soldier, died last night while visiting the home of James Clarke at - Quaker ' Ridge. Larchmont, N. Y. For more than twenty years MaJ. Byrne was Identified ' with the railroad operations opera-tions of the late C. P. Huntjngton. He was president of the Pittsburg. Shawmut tc Northern Railroad company and of the Shawmut Mining company. He was also a director of the Detroit City Gas company com-pany and a trustee of the Emigrant Industrial In-dustrial Savings bank of this city. . In 1884 MaJ.. Byrne was appointed by , i Gov. Hoadley of Ohio as flood' commi- i sloner to distribute money appropriated I to relieve the distress occasioned by v.:. Ohio valley flood. In 1896 Maj. Byrne organized the l-ii. ocratic Honest Money League of Amer-I Amer-I lea. MaJ. Bvrne's city address was 143 West i Fifty-eighth street He was born in 1 Maryland In 1845. |
