Show JUVENILE COURT IN DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA Judge Willis Brown of the Juvenile court received the following telegram this morning from Charles F. Weller, general secretary of the National Associated Asso-ciated Charities: "Please telegraph immediately whether wheth-er you have suggestions about Juvenile court bill now before Congress." Mr. Weller has charge of the bill which Is before Congress for the establishment estab-lishment of a Juvenile court in the District Dis-trict of Columbia. The bill Is the result of a suggestion made by President Roosevelt in his annual message. Some time ago the President, while on a visit to Colorado, became interested in the Juvenile court law of Denver, as a result of which he invited Judge Lind-sey Lind-sey to visit Washington and deliver an address before the charity associations of that city. Mr. Weller was a visitor to Salt Lake last summer and spent several days in studying the Juvenile court law of this State. When the proposed bill was drafted for the District of Columbia a copy was submitted to Judge Brown. Judge Brown today telegraphed Mr. Weller to try and delay action on the proposed bill until his letter and the amendments which he has to suggest can reach Washington. The letter explains ex-plains the proposed changes which Judge Brown has to offer to the bill as it now stands. |
