Show APOSTLE MERRILL DIES AT RICHMOND; FATHER OF FORTY-NINE CHILDREN ' Apostle Marrtner "W. Merrill died last night at his home in Richmond, Cache county, of diabetes, after a. long Illness. Apostle Merrill was in his seventy-fourth year, having been born in New Brunswick Sept. 25, 1832. He had been a resident of Utah since the early days. Apostle Merrill was known as one of the most ardent advocates of plural marriages in the Mormon church. He had nine wires, of whom seren are still living, and was the father of forty-nine children. Apostle Merrill was only last week served with summons to appear in the Smoot investigation in Washington. He was summoned to appear when the investigation, was in progress a year ago, but was too feeble to make the trip to Washington. |
