Show PARADE HIGHLIGHTS Bingham Canyon will remember remem-ber the Fourth of July, 1946, as one of the most successful programs pro-grams ever sponsored jointly by ! the City of Bingham Canyon, Bingham volunteer fire depart SltntS, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Com-merce, Lions club, Women's Civic club, American Legion and auxil iary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Victory Flag Society, under the general chairmanship of Clarence Johnson. The theme "Welcome Home" predominated the pro-grain pro-grain throughout the day. Veterans of Foreign Wars, dugout dug-out post No. 3521, and American j Legion post No. 30 were represented repre-sented by ex-servicemen in uniform, uni-form, carrying the colors. Bingham Bing-ham high school band marched in the first section. The FOE j (Eagles) sponsored Boy Scout troop in uniform carrying the colors followed. Army equipment displayed in j the parade were a "Duck", 2 112 ton amphibious truck, jeep; 3,4 ton truck weapon carrier; 40 MM ack ack; light tank; Weasel cargo car-go amphibious jeep; armored car and a half track M-16. The equipment was displayed through the courtesy of Tooele Ordinance depot, Tooele. A Boy Scout troop In full uniform uni-form was followed by a No. 2 Fire auxiliary float. Canyon Motor Mo-tor was represented by a model T Ford inscribed with "Boiling Beauty" and "Old Faithful". Standard Garage entered a Chevrolet Chev-rolet car. A car appropriately decorated was entered by Highland High-land Boy Community House. No. 2 Fire truck followed by firemen of both companies came next. Midvale junior high school band, in their white and yellow uniforms, pleased with their appearance. ap-pearance. Children bearing the banner "Greece, Defender of Democracy" were followed by a miniature float of a model home entered by Women's Civic club. "Miss Liberty Bell" represented J. C. Penney company. "A Home for Veterans" was the theme of the float entered by Miller's Groceteria. Gro-ceteria. Children carrying flags designating the various United Nations represented the American Ameri-can Legion auxiliary. A boy and a girl on bicycles representing Lark were followed by a big Uncle Sam's hat in red, white and blue, entered by the Jay-C-Ettes- "Pulling for a Home for the Vets" was the theme of the No. 1 Fire auxiliary float. The parade was under the direction di-rection of Mrs. S. W. Jacques, Elliott W. Evans and W R. Anderson. |
