Show Fourth of July Program Termed A Huge Success M Hiugham Canyon's Fourth of July Welcome Home Day celebration begat) Thursday with a beautiful parade which began in lower Bingham and continued up Main street to the Bingham portal of the Bingham-Copperfield tunnel at 10 a.m. Following the parade a patriotic program was held at the Bingham portal of the tunnel which included: I "America", high school band; unveiling of Victory Flag Society plaque, Carl Zahos and commit- tee; Remarks, David C. Lyon, chaplain Legion post No. 30; ; Welcome Home address and presentation pre-sentation of citations, Mayor Dale Johnston; patriotic address, Charles R. Ma bey; "Star Spangled Spang-led Banner", high school band; Children's races were held at the Bingham Central school playground at 1:00 pirn. John J. Creedon was master of ceremonies, Joe Compagno of the marines, who has been in a navy hospital for a considerable length of time, having four leg operations participated in the program and was presented with a gift from the Veteran's "75" club. During the patriotic program a free picture show was held at princess theatre for children 12 years of age and younger. A free children's dance was held at the Civic Center. Free ice cream and popcorn was distributed dis-tributed to all children following the dance. Soap box derby winners were not available at the time of going go-ing to press and the grand ball, to be held at the Civic Center was scheduled to be a great success. |
