family to support and with nothing but her hands and her determination de de- termination to do it with Life has been just one ha hard d struggle for all of us The only money I ever had to put me through high school was what I earned myself working after school until I was dead tired and then getting up at 5 o'clock in the mornings to get my lessons I always found work during the summer too as al did d my other sisters and brothers We would do anything we could got get getto gotto to do as we had to live But In spite of aU all these hard hardtimes hardtimes times we were a jolly family and had wonderful times er We could aU all see the funny side of life and when we would relate our oure experiences and the theU U things people we worked for tor would say to us we would eer- eer have fun This neighbor girl used to join us in our family circle and laugh and enjoy the fun as much as we did She was an only child and had nearly everything she wanted to tomake tomake make her happy She didn't seem to mind our beIng poor as we alwa always s had such good times together and she said sald she could never have any fun tun in her own hume home But lately she has changed so much she doesn't seem like the same girl Falls tn In Courtesy Her college girl friends come to see her and she seems to be ashamed of the fact that she even knows any of us I was over to her place one evening when some ot of her girl friends came She didn't even introduce me but excused ex ex- herself and went away with them Of course I got away home as fast as possible If it had been anybody else in inthe inthe the world I would have seen the funny side of this situation too but this hurt too much for me meto meto to even get a grin out of it il I wIll never JO go to her place again The thing that burns mel me up is that the very next day she came over to our place and palavered around trying to make a fuss over us as if nothing at all had hap hap- She made no apology whatever and I was very cooL She acted very foolish tryIng to tobe tobe be overly nice but when one of ofus ofus us is offended the whole family is in a case like thIS so we were polite but not friendly I If this had been the first time she had done things like this we might have thought she forgot to tobe tobe be courteous in her rush but it has happened to other members of the family too She highbrows my younger younger sisters when she meets them on the street and they know she saw them Do you think we should put ourselves out any longer to be nice to her or include include in in- clude her in any of our jolly fam fly ily affairs MEG bIEG No Meg Me g. g You haven't dropped her She has eliminated herself from your circle by her snobbishness When a friendship can be forgotten In the rush rush of newer acquaintanceships acquaintance acquaintance- ships all you can do is to feel teel mom momentarily momen- momen en sorry that the supposed friend was that kind of pe person on and to hope that the next friend you Include in your jolly circle will prove to have more loyal qualities It is my opinion that she is missing tar far more than you will ever miss in her herin in being thus excluded from the fine companionshIp of you and your cour courageous family amily And I hope that within a short time you will be able to smile over the situatIon ot of being embarrassed in the home of your onetime one one- time friend as you doubtless have smiled over far r more serious situa- situa FAMILY PET Dear Miss Blair My sister is the pet In our fam fam- ily She Is two y years rs younger than I and we have
