N Thurman director of pupil personnel in the city schools who was elected president resi ent of the organization Nearly fifty charter members the pr jeet j- j of reaching far importance Expansion into a statewide effort is among the tho plans which will engage early attention In the series of articles which have been appearing in The Telegram for the pastS past ten days daJ's dealing with juvenile delinquency emphasis emphasis em- em has been placed upon preventive means eans rather than upon corrective procedure as promising the larger o jal values We Wc nave have stated the purpose of these articles as being g the stimulation of widespread public interest in the problems of children These are among the most vital concerns of the day dare The ceo ceo- and social waste rooted in youthful misbehavior mis- mis behavior is a challenge to the adult population of the state To meet this challenge there is need that knowledge of all contributing factors fac fac- tors become general It is not a problem confronting con con- fronting public officials solely Its Its' solution on oncan can only be found when all thoughtful citizens may be induced to accept their full individual responsibilities in the matter It is our most earnest h hope pe that t this series erics when completed will have HaU some part in awakening this consciousness among the people peo- peo plo of the state stat and that this will prove helpful help help- ful to the Utah Child Guidance association and andall all other groups which seek seck to render a high high- y useful ful and purposeful service in meeting the vital issue Q of conserving youth routh These agencies stand ut in need of understanding ing appreciation appreciation ap- ap and cooperation wherever they direct die di- their labor It is to be hoped that statewide statewide state state- wide organization will be hastened and that the program of of helpfulness or may go forward vit and bear fruit
