1 T Texas exes Workers t I I Attempt to Halt Flood II I ROSSER Tex May 21 UP R- R Crews attempting to patch a 11 levee break near Rosser Tex gave up all hope at 11 1115 15 am a.m. Saturday and waters of the flooding Trinity river slid slowly over acres of rich farm lands I At the tho top of the levee the break breah was 30 feet wide and was Vi widening ing and ana ana anade de deepening pening by by- by byth th the minute as the waters coursed down to inundate some of the most fertile acres in Texas About 12 1230 30 am a.m. the rampaging Trinity topped the leveo levee with a crest of feet and a short time later the breach occurred Through the night and morning volunteers fought the break with th timbers and sandbags Hundreds of other men worked to strengthen the weak spots It was believed that the major break would take considerable pressure off other end enda places In the levee f Some had thought the I li might possibly be repaired National guardsmen calls call by Governor Beauford H.
