Show Mr. and Mrs. Lcland C Bur-ress Bur-ress attended the inauguration of Dr. LeRoy Eugene Cowles a8 president o the University of Utah Sunday afternoon at Kingsbury Kings-bury hall. LOCALNOTES William Pearce, a senior in the school of mines and engineering at the University of Utah, was elected president of the student chapter of American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers En-gineers Tuesday. He is also affiliated af-filiated with the Sifrma Gamma Epsilon fraternity. He is the son of the late Michael Pearce and Mrs. Pearce of Salt Lake City, one time residents of Copperfield. Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Nerd in and daughter, Dawna, were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Nerdin at West Jordan. The occasion was the elder eld-er Mr. Nerdin's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Stavrop-oulos Stavrop-oulos and daughter, Angie, of Salt Lake City, were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Panas. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Boyles spent Sunday evening visiting in Salt Lake City. Mr. and " Mrs. Cal Huntsman visited Sunday in Springville with relatives. Mrs. Esther Sumnicht of Salt Lake City and Mrs. L. W. Sumnicht Sum-nicht of Copperton were luncheon lunch-eon guests Tuesday afternoon of Mrs. Russell Sumnfcht. Curtis Jensen of Salt Lake City, father of Mrs. William Cook, is reported recovering at Bingham hospital from an operation performed per-formed Friday. Ed Beck of the Panos apartments apart-ments is convalescing at home following a recent operation at St. Mark's hospital. Mrs. Harold Timothy, Mrs. Ir-vin Ir-vin Miller and Mrs. Rudy Stephen Steph-en motored to Salt Lake City Saturday evening. Paul and Jimmie Erz visited over the week-end in Ogden with their father, Paul F. Erz. Walter Bolic, Neldon Chad-wick, Chad-wick, Howard Stewart and Ernest Ern-est Ballamis, all inducted into the army April 11, are in training train-ing at Camp Roberts, Cal. W. L. Faddis of American Fork, Utah Power and Light company representative formerly at Bingham, Bing-ham, was recently installed as vice president of the Lions club at American Fork. Marvin Singleton, a former Utah Copper company employee who left Bingham about six weeks ago to enlist in the marine corps, is seriously ill with meningitis menin-gitis at a San Diego hospital. A son of Mrs. Bert Singleton of Vernal, Mr. Singleton worked here the past three years. |
