A Stagg be ie retained as head football coach Along with the 39 yearlings who signed 31 members of the varsity squad members of eleven cleven I fraternities rater irater and 70 from other groups bad had added their names to the request The petition signed by the freshmen fresh men reads We Ve the undersigned freshmen entered entered en en- the University of Chicago with wit the hope that we mf might ht play football under the old man The ideals fo for tor which he stands and the opportunity to come under their influence in as as- relating with him were deciding factors in making our choice We feel we can gain much from playing under Mr Stagg Stage and hope hop the chance will not be taken away wa Respectfully we ask that the oltman old olt man be retained as our coach The petition will be presented to President Robert Maynard Hutchins the board of trustees Thomas N.
