M Harry Cushing Gushing 68 63 of I street retired division passenger passenger pas pas- agent of the Denver Rio Grande Western railroad died Monday Mon day at 1135 p. p m. m at a local hospital of or arterio sclerosis Mr Cushing Gushing was the thc oldest living past master of Argenta lodge No 3 free and Accepted Masons and also served in the state legislature early in ri Utah's statehood as a representative tive ive and chairman of the land committee com cornS of the house He lie was the oldest in point of service for the theD D. D R R. R G. G W. W and retired last June after completing 52 years of continuous service with that railroad He was a native of or Welland Ontario Canada and came to the United States with his parents when a youth settling in Junction City Kan Mr Cushing Gushing joined the D. D R R. G. G W. W in Denver in 1380 and remained with the company then known as ashe the he Denver Rio Grande until 1889 1 when he entered the service of the the Texas Fort Worth railroad as division division di die vision baggage agent He later accepted accepted ac ac- ac the same position with the Union Pacific system at Portland I and in 1890 returned to the Denver Rio Grande Western as traveling passenger agent at Salt Lake He Tic also was a member of Utah chapter No 1 Royal Arch Masons past commander of Utah Vo No 1 and a member of El EI Kalah tern tom plc pIc lc Ancient Arabic Arable Order Nobles of the he Mystic Shrine He was a director of ot the Travelers' Travelers Aid society Besides his widow Mrs Daisy dough Clough Cushing Gushing he is survived by two daughters Mrs Libbie Godbe and Mrs Marie Snyder of Salt Lake and six grandchildren |
