W Jensen had Visited her fathers father's home after ter the murder asking her What has happened here t It had been testified that Mrs Jensen replied Someone has killed my my father tather and burned the evidence Mrs Jensen testified that she had said Someone has killed my father and tried to burn his house down Mrs Jensen denied that at any any time she had had a conversation with Drusilla Peterson as testified to to to the effect effect that her father rather had not not been good to her She also denied that she had told L. L P. P Anderson her law brother as had been testified testified testified tes tes- by him that she had told him there were five people with her during during dur duro ing the time of the murder who would prove that Mendon Draper was innocent in in- She declared that after Mr Anderson had testified she had talked with him and when she asked him why he had said what he did on the witness stand he had replied I had to tell something didn't I I could not remember everything She testified that her father had told her last October that he did not want her to keep company with Draper Drap Drap- er or anyone else and that her father at that time had told her that Draper Drap Drap- er was lazy and no good She denied that her father had once driven Draper from her home She declared that she had never heard Draper express any ill will toward toward to to- ward her father ADMISSION FORCED Mrs l Jensen was finally forced to admit that she had told Draper that her father disapproved of him but she denied a conversation related by bythe bythe the district attorney as having taken place between her and her brother Arthur regarding property matters It t was at this point the defense interposed in iii- its most strenuous objection abjection Upon the states state's declaration that the purpose was to impeach the witness the court overruled the objection Mrs Jensen denied that she and anda a was called to the stand yesterday by her attorney Louis Larsen she appeared to b beager be eager for the opportunity to testify in her own behalf Her replies t tc o the questions put to her were giver given n in n a voice that seemed to indicate confidence In her mind that sho she could coul d establish her innocence At the outset other testimony Mrs Jensen said It was at her fathers father's request request reQuest re re- quest she obtained her divorce from fron Lester Jensen that he financed it and ond that since then the relations between her and her father had been cordial cordia and pleasant She told the jury ury she began keeping keeping keeping keep keep- ing company with Mendon Draper convicted of the murder and sentenced sen sen- en to life lite imprisonment last week In July of last year but that shedid she shedid shedid did not appear in public with him Referring to the oiling of a sick pig which has figured as one of the main incidents in the story of the murder she said that she had asked Dr Draper per to get oil for it about 10 days before the killing kUling of her father but that he had forgotten to do so Then she said she sent her het children for the oil on the day of the crime She testified that Draper had been with her from tram 7 p. p m m. m on the night nigh of the slaying until 1 a a. a m. m except for lor a time he left her When he came back she said she gave no thought though to his absence and construed nothing nothing noth noth- ing from it ft KNEW OF NO TROUBLE Mrs Jensen testified that she knew of no trouble between Draper am and her father until the preliminary bearing hearing after the e. e In support of her contention that tha she and her father were on friendly terms she testified that in May of last year he had given her land ion on which she borrowed money to maintain maintain maintain main main- tain her family She said her father was always kind to her and that she had exchanged gifts with him severa several times She denied that she had at anytime any anytime anytime time harbored a thou thought ht of f injuring him The state had attempted to show that in tearing out a piece picco of at a mattress mattress mat mat- tress at her home she had attempted to conceal evidence pertaining to the crime Mrs Jensen maintained that she had taken the bit from the mattress mat tress because there was some chewing gu tn on it jt She claimed th that t one D of Df her daughters was subject to ing ng of the nose and that if it blood stains were found on the mattress they probably resulted from this fact When court
