Slu will attend classes there six months, then enter Holy Cross hospital to study nursing. Miss Isabel Rose of Copperton was a week-end visitor at the Brown home in Copperfield. Leland Halverson and Lee Mat-tson Mat-tson of Telegraph returned home Friday from Bingham hospital, when; they were both patients. We are happy to announce that Mrs. John W. Anderson of lower Copperfield took four first prizes this year at the Utah state fair with her fancy work. She took three blue ribbons on her cut-work cut-work and one blue ribbon on three crocheted doilies. An unusual un-usual feature of the fair this year was that different exhibits were in different places. All fancy work was displayed at Sears Roebuck Roe-buck and company while the paintings and art exhibition was held at ZCMI. This was due to lack of room at the fairgrounds, as the army has taken over most of the buildings there. Mr. and Mrs. Fmnk Montoya and daughters, Marion and Rose, of Dinkeyville, left Thursday morning for Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mex-ico, for a month's vacation. Dinner guests at Lucile Chestnuts Chest-nuts home last Saturday were I Heights, returned to her home in Washington, D.C, last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Miles Anderson and family visited at the William Peterson home in Copperton Tuesday evening. Mrs. William Jones was a Salt Lake visitor Monday. Joe Jones and daughter, Nicki, visited at the home of Mr. Jones mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jones, Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Christ Bapis and family met and visited with Mr. Bapis' cousin and wife in Salt Lake City Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Alexandria were in Salt Lake City on their honeymoon. honey-moon. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Cowdell and family and Mrs. Cowdell's mother visited Mrs. Cowdell s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Terry H. Sessions, in Syracuse the last two days. Last Saturday evening Copper-field Copper-field firemen and their wives held their annual party at Miner's Min-er's Merc. hall. An enjoyable evening ev-ening was spent dancing. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served at intermission intermis-sion under the able direction of Archie Cook. At the last meeting of the Copperfield Cop-perfield Volunteer Firemen it was decided to donate ten dollars dol-lars to the Victory Flag society of Bingham. Mr. and Mrs. William Wallace, who used to reside in Telegraph I but now live in Tacoma, Wash., were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Halverson Wednesday morning. John W. Anderson, Ted Scrog-gin, Scrog-gin, Alvin Cole, Orrin Colby, Malcolm Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Evans and Mrs. Clarence Bullock of the office of civilian defense attended the bond rally at Bingham Central school Tuesday Tues-day evening. They were appointed appoint-ed as treasury agents to sell bonds in Copperfield. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Parks were visitors at the Paul Miller home Sunday. Pauleen and LaRae Miller attended at-tended the birthday party of their cousin, Mary Agnes Jacob-son, Jacob-son, in Bingham Sunday. Mrs. Alvin Cole returned home from Ogden last Wednesday. Mrs. H. G. Leatherwood and small son, Billy, and sister, Mrs. Bud Holman, and baby daughter daugh-ter of Midvale and Provo, spent the evening with Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Leatherwood last Thursday. Thurs-day. Mrs. John Pantalone entertained entertain-ed at dinner Tuesday evening for two Italian soldiers who are working for the U. S. mine and boarding at the hotel. They are: Frank Maurio and John Cohucci. I Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Cowdell, Don Evans and Dewey Rasmussen. Mr. Rasmussen and Lucile Chestnut spent the evening in Salt Lake at a show and dancing. Mrs. Don Evans is visiting her mother, who lives near Spring-ville, Spring-ville, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Meecham and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hardman attended the Union dance last Saturday night-Three night-Three young people of our vicinity vic-inity started back to school this week. John Anderson Jr. is attending at-tending University of Utah, Miss Matina Katis is at LDS Business college and Miss Connie Brown at the College of St. Mary-of-the-Wasatch. Mrs. Earnest Arp, the former Edith Leatherwood of Copper-field, Copper-field, demonstrated the rhumba tap dance at the opening social of the Bingham LDS ward MIA. Mr. and Mrs. John Barrett returned re-turned home from Nampa, Ida., Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Barrett was called by the illness and death of his father, C. E. Barrett. We have a good report to make for the Copperfield grade school children buying stamps and bonds after the Sept. 10 pay day: first grade, $4 30; second grade, $21.60; third grade, $11.20; fourth and fifth grade, $24.40 and fifth and sixth grade, $85.05, a total of $146.55. One little girl, Pauline Miller of second grade, had saved sav-ed her money all summer in a salt sack. She had 176 nickels, $1.00 and seven dimes. Another, Ellen Golesh. had 30 pennies, two dimes and 50 cents. It is savings sav-ings like these that show the true spirit of America, little children going without candy and shows to help with the war. Dinner guests last Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Golesh were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rakich of Highland High-land Boy, Nick Savich of the army and George Savich of the navy. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Rcroggin were Copperton visitors Monday evening. Mrs. H. W. Kirkendall, Mrs.! John Anderson and Mrs. Ted Scroggin spent last Wednesday quilting at the home of Mrs. Scroggin. Mrs. Robert Burke Sr. and William Burke received a letter from Gordon stating that the merchant marines are O.K. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Thomas visited vis-ited Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Stoker of Sandy last Sunday. Mr. Thomas Thom-as is on his vacation, which he is spending at home resting. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bullock were Salt Lake visitors Wednesday. Wednes-day. Mrs. Beverly Zorn of Telegraph came home Wednesday from the Bingham hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Archibald Archi-bald of Eureka were Sunday visitors vis-itors at the H. Halverson home in Telegraph. Jayne Maynard and son, Richard, Rich-ard, of Ogden, niece of Mrs. Al- vin Cole, is spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Cole. Mr. and Mrs. Max Scroggin and small son, Dennis, and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Moore, all of Midvale, Mid-vale, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Scroggin.
