Show BUREAU OF MINES DIRECTS SEARCH FOR WARMETALS The U. S. bureau of mines has begun operations on project No. 1447 of the government Search for War Minerals program with opening of an office in the old Utah Metals building at Highland High-land Boy Monday under direction direc-tion of Robert L. Jones, geologist geolo-gist and engineer from the Salt Lake bureau of mines office. James A. Marsh of Salt Lake City, formerly of Copperton and a Utah Copper company engineer, engi-neer, now district engineer for the bureau of mines, directs operations op-erations in Utah and other inter-mountain inter-mountain states, part, of a most extensive search undertaken in United States and Alaska for war minerals. Crews are being sent out in quest of nearly a score of materials needed to supply the armed forces, according to Harold Har-old L. Ickes, secretary of the interior. in-terior. Mr. Jones says the work in Bingham district will be confined confin-ed to Armstrong mine. He is being be-ing assisted here by two furlough-ed furlough-ed soldiers, Willard Smith and Irving Lounsbrough, and L. G. Burress. |
