Several of the students at the Haskell Institute, the Indian school at Lawrence, Kansas, have received letters from their relatives in the Indian Territory regarding the Messiah rrsze. One of the letters Is from a Caddo chief to his daughter. It U dated Anadarko, and tells of Jhe ghost dances. Tlie chief tells his daughter not to ridiculo the coming' of the Indian Christ, for she knows nothing of the wondrous manifestations tho Iudlahs have received re-ceived from him regarding his appearance ap-pearance on earth again. He says that there may be a timelier Indian instincts will as-ert themselves, and then she will come back to her people. Join In tho dance and make herself ready to receive the Mes.lali. The old chief says the belief is confined con-fined mostly to tlie good Indians, and he regrets the lead ones will not mend thtir ways and accept the Christ. Another Is from an uncle to his nephew. The letter also tells of the wonderful revelations that have been made at the ghest dances, aud of the marvelous interviews the inspired in-spired Indians have had with the Messiah. Some of the inspired Indians, In-dians, says the writer, have had interviews in-terviews during their trances with dead relatives, who told them to prepare for tbe coming of Christ, ana not treat him as did the white ieopleofold. The writer cautious Ilia nephew not to reject tbe Messiah Mes-siah until he has attended a ghost dince, aud has had an opportunity to judge for himself of thu evidences of the ceniiug of Christ. .Er. |
