P Mendenhall secretary of the board Friday sought an opinion opinion ion from the attorney generals general's office regarding a provision in the act of 1925 authorizing the extension Mr Mendenhall took this action asa as asa asa a result of ot an appeal Thursday from Senator W. W D. D Candland of ot Mt Pleasant Pleasant Pleasant Pleas Pleas- ant ant- and James A. A Hooper secretary of the Utah association who asked discretion in prohibiting further extensions on behalf of ot stock- stock growers who are threatened with loss of ot equities They pointed out that in hi some soma In Instances instances in- in stances purchasers already have been allowed a year three-year moratorium on payments and the additional time taken for cancellation of certificates about eleven months Senator Candland and Mr Hooper pointed pointed to the provision which they believe belleve gives the right to resume payments pay pay- ments merits and retain equities once the livestock ek industry h has recovered They claim that if it the board is slow to reappraise the property in question ques ques- tion It cannot be resold and that the original purchasers are permitted to resume payments 5 |
