Show WOMEN LIKE WORK MOST U working women like their present answered occupations a questionnaire by mature experienced women en engaged engaged engaged en- en in the higher occupational levels throughout the country indicates The survey which was conducted by the bureau of business research of the UniversIty University University sity of Mi Michigan with the cooperation of the National Federation of Business and Professional Professional Professional Women's clubs also indicates that women engaged in different fields of work vary in their characteristic occupational in interests interests in- in and only a very few occupations are consistently liked or disliked by women in nIl all lI types of work Business for self maker home-maker secretary and ind social worker were the only jobs which the various working groups unanimously re regarded regarded regarded re- re with favor The jobs of barber book agent chiropodist elevator operator and laundress were on the other hand looked lipon upon pon with dislike by all the working groups questioned A longer list of occupations including the of wife office manager and musician were thought of with either favor or indifference ference combined with favor While the ma- ma of the nearly women represented in the questionnaire were single and half of them were more than 37 years of age their answers indicated that the working woman is interested in making home and marriage but the results do not show whether she would be willing to 10 sacrifice her business for home or vice versa The ten occupational groups stating their work preference in the questionnaire were private secretaries office managers bookkeepers bookkeepers bookkeepers book book- keepers stenographers office clerks high school teachers grade school teachers trained nurses sales proprietors p and nd retail saleswomen |
