C record in the half mile event The Utah Redskin star also proved to be the states state's outstanding entry in Olympic track competition being left at home only because he pulled a a tendon in his leg and was therefore unable to compete in the final trials after his place was almost virtually assured Mel Burke upper right of the Utah won first place in two events in every meet in which he contested He also set a new mile record in the conference conference con con- ference joust Carl Belliston lower left set a new scholastic pole pole- vault record of 11 feet 10 inches and Lorraine Cox lower right Dixie high ace annexed the decathlon honors at the B. B Y V. U. U invitational relays as aswell aswell aswell well as setting a new state scholastic mark in the high jump His leap of 6 feet z 2 inches bettered Clint Larsons Larson's previous state mark by one- one half inch I |
