S hospital shortly before 10 o'clock Tuesday morning Rolfe who was an are of the Hadley Transfer company had entered the sidewalk type freight elevator closed the iron doors to th the shaft and had apparently pulled the wrong cord as the elevator was descending causing the apparatus to reverse In attempting to force the iron doors he apparently apparently- sipP sUpped slipped and arid fell lell and was pinned between n the elevator and the shaft wall wail There were no witnesses to the tragedy Claude Rolfe a helper no relation O of the older man heard a muffled CI cry J from the elevator shaft ond lInd nd immediately ran to the base bas ment With the help of the janitor I the elevator was rever reversed revered ed and the Injured man removed A police ambulance ambulance- was summoned sum sum- mooed but Rolfe Rolf rapidly lost strength He was crushed in the abdomen having baying apparently fallen falleni i nearly nearl lengthwise on the floor of the car Rolfe Bolfe is survived d by his wife l Mrs MiSs Irs Bertha Rolfe Belie and a daughter Funeral arrangements will be bo made later |
