Show CIIAMli: OF IIAN 1CJK3IENT. The Control or Tbe Union rarlae Itraralned Ily Could. New Youk, Nov. 14. A prominent promi-nent railway manager, who is thoroughly familiar with the pro gress that has been made towards bringing Western roads Into closer relations with one another, said yesterday that tbe change In the control of tbe Union Pacific railroad which will soon be made apparently means a great deal to the Chicago, Milwaukee & Bt, Paul Railroad. Messrs. Drcxel, Morgan & Co. have for some time past been Influential In the uianagemcntof that company. Mr. Morgan has assisted Mr. Uould in regaining control of tho Union Pacific, for the reason, among other?, that lie wished to secure for the -Si. Paul Companies facilities west of Omaha similar to those enjoyed en-joyed by the Chicago fc Northwest em through its alliance with the Union Pacific It b also clear that other railroads running to Council lilufls and Omaha, but having nu lines of their own wi st of the Missouri Mis-souri River, are to be treated by the Union Pacific hereafterlnamaunei that will prevent any further criticism, criti-cism, of tbw Northwestern lines. It is understood that the new president of the Union Pacific Railroad Rail-road Compar.y will be Sidney Dillon. Dil-lon. Mr. Gould wishes him io havr the place as a vindication of his previous management of the com panj'aafj.lrs. Uls duties will be oFau advisory nature, and younger men will be retained to supervise the detalb of operation. |
