Show ,,.i- Hughes-Haymond Wedding, Event Of June 20; Reception Honored Pair Miss June Hughes of Spanish Fork became the bride of Richard E. Haymond, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Haymond of Springville in a temple ceremony Monday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. R. Chase Allred and little daughter Linda Shave returned re-turned to their home in Manhatten, Kansas, following a two weeks stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Bird at Mapleton and with other relatives at Lehi. They came on account of illness of Mr. Allred's father of Lehi. Mrs. All-red All-red is the former Virginia Bird. Mr. and Mrs. George Pearson and family have (been spending the ipast few days on a vacation trip to Driggs, Ida., where they visited visi-ted relatives and friends. June 20. Miss Hughes wore a smart green and white two-piece suit and she and Mr. Haymond were accompanied to Salt Lake by their parents and her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Mack F. Hughes. After the ceremony, the newlyweds were honored at a wedding dinner at Hotel Temple Square. They were honored at a wedding reception Wednesday evening at the Fourth ward chapel in Spanish Fork. In an exquisite white slipper-satin slipper-satin igown made by her 77-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Hannah Reese, the lovely brunette bride was the center of attraction. The gown had a lace yoke with a high neck-line accented with a double strand of pearls. The pointed cuffs were edged with lace. Below the button back the gown was draped from the back and the lace-edged finger-tip veil fell from a coronet of seed pearls. She carried a bridal 'bouquet of a white orchid surrounded sur-rounded by tiny Fashion roses with streamers of white satin. The maid of honor was Miss Virginia Russell a cousin from Provo, who wore blue. Bridesmaids Brides-maids in gowns of pink and blue, were Miss Florence Frampton, Mrs. Mary M. Swenson of Ogden, Miss Faye Hutchinson, and Mrs. Beulah M. Simmons of Provo. All carried colonial nosegays. Two small flower girls accented ac-cented the bridal iparty. Dressed in identical models of pink and blue were Miss Karen Haymond and Miss Kay West. . The bride's parents stood in the line, Mrs. Hughes wearing dark green and the mother of the groom wore a roowder 'blue model. The bride's . grandmother, Mrs. Hannah Han-nah Reese also stood in the receiving re-ceiving line. Greeting guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Mack Hughes and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Allen of Pay-son. Pay-son. At the chapel door was Mrs. Hannah H. Swenson. The guest book was kept .by G-ayle McGarry and Joan Hales and taking gifts were Sheronne Robertson and Ila Mae Thomas. Jack Swenson was master of ceremonies for the program. Opening Op-ening prayer was by Rawlins Hughes, Sr. A vocal selection was given by Rawlins Hughes, Jr. accompanied ac-companied iby Janet Hill. Mrs. Mary Bird played a piano solo. Mrs.- Jayne Tanner read two ballads bal-lads and Miss Elaine Jones sang accompanied .by Norma Brock-bank. Brock-bank. Tina Lou Daniels played an accordian selection. Guests were served at tiny tables in the recreation room. Each was centered with a chrystal 'bubble bowl with floating pink roses. The wedding cake, trimmed with pink rosebuds, was placed on a linen cloth sent from Japan, with Chinese punch work in intricate designs. The cloth was sent to the bride toy her brother, Major Phillip Hughes now serving in Okinawa. A set of delicate Japanese china is on the way as a wedding gift. Hostesses in the dining room were Mrs. Eliza Nelson and Mrs. Phebe Swenson and a group of girls served. In charge of the kitchen was Mrs. Ella Frampton assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Nielsen, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Oberhansley, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Leifson, Mr. G. Frank Nelson and Frank M. Nelson. Hostesses in the gift room were Mrs. Hazel Hughes and Mrs. Donna Keele. Trousseau room hostesses hos-tesses were Mrs. Betty Watts and Mrs. Fay Hamond of Springville. There were approximately 400 present. The young couple left the next morning for a honeymoon at Moon Lake in the Uintah mountains. Mrs. Haymond plans to continue work at the Commercial Bank while Mr. Haymond is working in Haymond Drug store. They are making their home in Spanish Fork until fall when they will leave for Salt Lake to make their home while Mr. Haymond continues con-tinues his studies. He is a junior at the U. of U. in the school pharmacy. |
