Show Calls Meet... A. O. Thorn Reorganization of Black Hawk Committee Set A. O. Thorn, captain of the Springville-Mapleton Black Hawk Indian War Veterans and Pioneers committee, announces a meeting Friday evening of all committee members for the purpose of reorganizing reor-ganizing the committee. The meeting is called for 8 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler, who have acted as secretaries secre-taries of the committee for several years. Mr. Thorn has served in the capacity ca-pacity of captain over a number of years making a fine record for his efforts in keeping alive the memory of the early settlers. He was captain of the committee when the state encampment was held in Springville in 1946, and before be-fore and since made plans for local committee members to attend at-tend many other encampments over the state. The committee is organized for the purpose of honoring the memory mem-ory of those men who participated in the wars with the Indian chief Black Hawk as well as other early settlers of the city. Captain Thorn expects every paid member of the committee and others who desire to become members mem-bers to attend the reorganization meeting Friday. Only paid up members are eligible to vote. |
