Show Honored On Anniversary .. . Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Edwards, who were delightfully entertained by their nieces and grandchildren Friday, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. i ' Mr. And Mrs. Edwards Honored on Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Edwards were delightfully surprised by their grandchildren and nieces at their home on Friday, Aug. 16, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary anniver-sary which occurred on Saturday, Aug. 17. P The observance of their anniversary anniver-sary came in the form of a surprise sur-prise party and dinner with relatives rela-tives from Salt Lake City bringing bring-ing a lovely twotiered wedding cake trimmed with fifty beautiful pink roses with a wedding greeting greet-ing written in a pale geen whichr formed the centerpiece for the dining table. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards were married toy Bishop Lloynds in Springville, Aug. 17, 1896. Mr. Edwards was born in Wales and came to the United States when ten years of age after joining the Mormon church there. He was the son of Edward and Margaret Jenkins Edwards. Mrs. Edwards was born in this city, of pioneer parents, Franklin P. and Elmira Jeanette Day Whit-more. Immediately following their marriage, the couple moved to Castle Gate, Utah, where they re' sided for twenty years. While there, Mr. Edwards held the positions of Mayor, Justice of the Peace, and Constable. Mrs. Edwards was very active in church work, holding the positions of Relief Societly president, Primary president, Choir leader, and First Counselor in the Y. W. M. I. A. Two children were born to the couple, a boy, who died at the age of three years, and a girl, Nellie Edwards Beadleson, who died at the age of 29 years, leaving three children, Billie Jean, Edward A., and Howard, whom Mr. and Mrs. Edwards have reared. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards moved to Provo later, where they lived for 22 years. While there, Mr. Edwards Ed-wards was on the police force for twelve years, and Mrs. Edwards worked in the church organizations. organiza-tions. They moved to Springville ten years ago, and reside at First East and Center. Both are active for their advanced years, Mr. Edwards Ed-wards being eighty years old and Mz's. Edwards, 77 years. Attending the anniversary party par-ty were: Mrs. Arthur McArthur, Mrs. Blanche Spainhower, Mrs. Lyle Scott, nieces from Salt Lake City; Miss Josephine Scott, Salt Lake City; Billie Jean Beadleson, Edward Beadleson and Howard Beadleson, Springville, and the guests of honor. |
