Show Health and Beauty By f DR. SOPHIA BRUNSON THE FACES WE MAKE FOR OURSELVES As you walk along the streets, or meet your friends and acquaintances ac-quaintances upon the high roads or the bypaths of life, you are unconsciously telling them about your thought and your inner life. When you lea9t suspect it. your ' 'face is giving you away. There are some seasoned faces that are no longer young, but high courage and nobility are stamped indelibly upon them. The going has not been easy. Sometimes Some-times they have almost yielded to despair but not quite. In the tempest tem-pest tossed night of uncertainty and doubt hope has sent a gleaming gleam-ing ray into their souls and has bidden them fight on. They bravely brave-ly rose and obeyed the command and won through to victory. They have learned to tackle with courage cour-age and determination every problem prob-lem that presents itself. Life hasn't been easy. Oh no, they did not expect that. They have done their best without murmuring or complaining.. The chised of fate has etched it all on their features. There is a nobility, a beauty, about such faces, that is unmistakeable. How different they are fromthe faces of the chronic grumblers and com-plainers.! com-plainers.! They continually pull down the muscles of their faces by disagreeable thoughts. Frowns make furrows and wrin-kles wrin-kles that not only bring the early appearance of age, but also expressions ex-pressions which proclaim to the wold a querulous, discontented, faul-finding disposition. To a large extent we make our own faces. The bones are generally general-ly all right. It is the arrangement of the flesh upon them that creates cre-ates the physical beauty of a face. Frowning draws down the muscles mus-cles of the mouh and squints up the eyes. Happy thoughts and smiles lift these same muscles and give the countenance a pleasing pleas-ing expression. If you are a grouch and a quitter, your face will tell everybody. If you love the good, the true, the beautiful, that too will be written upon your countenance. The face can never be lovely that belongs to a person who hates and envies. Bring the beauty of brave and joyous living into your life, and it will shine in your face. From a strictly physical standpoint your face may be far from perfect but people will be attracted by it. For the high courage that life has been so busy in moulding into your expressions ex-pressions will give inspiration to others and help them to relight the little flickering tapers of their courage by the flame that they see burning so brightly in you. |
