Show BOX ELDER MAY GET HUGE DAM The department of the interior has recommended that the U. S. senate enact a bill now pending authorizing the expenditure of a million dollars to build a dam across the Bear River channel near Deweyville, Box Elder county, coun-ty, to provide a fresh water supply for the use of the Bear River Migratory Mi-gratory Bird Refuge. In addition, the construction of such a dam would provide a lake of more than 40,000 acres extending from Deweyville Dew-eyville to the Cutler Dam in Bear River canyon. The building of the dam was first proposed ten years ago as a means to provide sufficient suffi-cient fresh water to the duck refuge ref-uge to eliminate the wholesale poisoning of ducks by botulism, a food poison which flourishes in stagnant swamps. |
