Show Rodeo Queen Contest Winners Named L Mrs. Floyd Lloyd Named Rodeo Queen, Miss Coleen Jensen and Miss Glenna Webb, Attendants; Other Events Planned For Big 4th An interesting highlight in connection with the 1'ourth of July celebration was the selection Monday evening of the Amateur Rodeo Queens who will be featured during the i three-day rodeo programs as well as appearing in the parade and other Fourth of July events. Before an interested audience at the new Spring Acres racetrack, nine queen contestants exhibited their horsemanship and beautiful western attire. Twenty percent was given for costume; 30 percent per-cent for personality and 50 percent on horsemanship. Mrs. Floyd Lloyd received queen honors and selected as her attendants, at-tendants, Miss Coleen Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jensen, and Miss Glenna Webb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Webb. Judging the contest were Neil Thomas of Spanish Fork, Roy Park and Tom McClain of Orem. During the contest, Mrs. Shirley Child, who is a queen attendant at the big Lehi celebration and who was judged as a professional rider, rid-er, gave some fine riding exhibitions. exhibi-tions. The Queen Contest was sponsored spon-sored by the local Hobble Creek Riding Club, which is sponsoring the big three-day Amateur Rodeo event in connection with Spring-ville's Spring-ville's Fourth of July celebration. In the meantime, plans are going go-ing forward for numerous other entertainment features to be staged here on the Fourth of July. Boys we,re being advised Wednesday Wed-nesday to get their frogs all caught for the frog-jumping contest, while others will get their old clothes ready for the turkey race and other oth-er contests planned for the day. An interesting event also planned plan-ned for the day is the motorized scooter race over a 25-mile track on Main street. There will also be a ballgame in the afternoon, a model show, a doll show, and many other events, all of which will be announced, together with the time of each event, in next week's issue of the Herald. |
