Show LITTLE THEATER GROUP SETS REGULAR MEETING The monthly meeting of the Little Lit-tle Theater group will be held Monday, Mon-day, June 30, at 8:00 in the Little Theater at the Art Gallery, ' under the direction of Mrs. Jessie Dalton, chairman. DeJeune Whitney Griffiths, a prominent local dramatist, will address the group and present the play, "I Remember Mama." It was for her splendid portrayal of the title role in this production that she was recently named the outstanding actress of the year at the University of Oregon. The public is invited to attend these meetings, and young people who have had dramatic training in high school, are urged to come. Dr. T. Earl Pardoe was the speaker at the last meeting. He commended the group for its worthwhile civic project, and spoke of the advantages of such recreational recrea-tional activities in a community. He further stated that in the past, SpringviUe had been looked upon as a cultural leader, but in recent years Art had been stressed while Music and Drama had not yielded the best results of which the town should be capable. , Maurice Anderson, a member of the group, reported that a plot of ground had been purchased by the city council where a Civic Center wiU eventually be constructed. This building will have an auditorium audi-torium with an ample stage, club rooms and many other features much needed by the city. |
