" ; v . i 1 Marie Dean Bybee SpringviSe Names Candidate Fr Title Of "Miss Of ah" Miss Marie Dean Bybee will represent rep-resent Springville as the candidate for Miss Utah in the Utah county contest to toe conducted in the near future, it was announced today. The winner of the Utah county contest will compete for the title of Miss Utah in a state contest in the near future according to Paul K. Walker, chairman of the Springville Spring-ville committee. Selected as an alternate to Miss Bybee is Miss Joan Smith. Miss Bybee is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bybee and Miss Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Smith. The two girls were selected as candidate and runner-up, at a contest con-test held Monday evening at the Little Theater in the high school Art building in which twelve judges made the selections from a large number of contestants. According to Mr. Walker, the job of making a selection was a difficult one with every entry scoring scor-ing high in points to toe considered and it was only after much consideration con-sideration that the selection was made. Miss Bytoee graduated from the Brigham Young University this year and Miss Smith was in her freshman year at the Utah State Agriculture college where she was selected cheer leader for the U.S. A.C. next year. It is not Miss Bybees first win in such contests. She was named Miss Springville in 1947 and very early in her life was judged as the healthiest baby in a toaby show in Dodge City, Kan. Miss Bybee left toy plane for San Francisco, Calif., to take her final examination prior to becoming becom-ing an air stewardess after passing pass-ing preliminaries in Salt LaJce City earlier in the week. |
