Show Big Increase Seen ' In rrigation Water Available This winter's snow storms have had a definite effect upon the amount of water available for irrigation irri-gation from the Strawberry reservoir, reser-voir, according to a report of wa- ter supply conditions as of Febru-'? ary 1. Storms since the report was made will also increase the I present figures. The January 1949 inflow meas-' ured 3.46 acre feet, compared to a j 10-year average of 2.56 acre feet. The inflow into the reservoir from Oct. 1 to Feb. 1, was 9.37 acre feet, compared to a 10-year average aver-age of 8.11 acre feet. The water available fcr irrigation irriga-tion purposes February 1 was 72.620 acre feet, compared to a 10-year 10-year average of 63.385 acre feet. The snow cover on the Strawberry Straw-berry water shed measured 46.3 inches on February 1 on the East Portal snow course, and 68.7 inches on the Strawberry Ridge course. The 10-year average was 30.5 inches at the East Portal and 46.2 on the Strawberry Ridge course. |
