Show Screen Shorts The set of "Duel in the Sun," in Tucson, was quite a family gathering spot. Jennifer Jones took her two small sons along, Gregory Peck took his wife, as did Joseph Gotten. Judy Garland, who is crazy abut all kinds of gargets, is wearing wear-ing a new pin a trolley car on which diamonds and rubies are mounted a gift from the composer compos-er of "The Trolley Song." Lynn Walker, one of the most promising of Paramount's young stalets not so long ago, is now a stewardess for the United Air Lines. Joan Blondell may have the role of Greer Garson's hard-boiled pal in "The Strange Adventure," which will bring Clark Gable back to the screen. Evelyn Keyes had to be riveted rivet-ed into the costume she wore in "A Thousand and One Nights," and each evening the outfit was removed with clippers. Sabu, the young Indian star, still received so much fan mail, although he has been in the Army for some time, that his brother, Sheik Dastigar, calls every week at Universal to collect it. He gets more than 4,000 letters a week. Lauren Bacall's "Vacation" in New York was so strenuous, she had to come back to Hollywood to "rest up." So pleased was John Hodiak's home studio, MGM, with his looks wearing a moustache, which he acquired ac-quired for "A Bell for Adano," they ordered him to grow one on a permanent basis. Kenny Baker, who has had only on-ly bit parts in Hollywood so far, had a large role in the stage version ver-sion of "One Touch of Venus." Naturally, Na-turally, he would like to repeat in I the movie version but so far, no go. Mary Martin will have the title role in the film. Maurice Tauzan, who played Chopin as a boy in "A Song to Remember," has been cast for the part of the youthful King Henry in Colombia's "The Bandit Of Sherwood Forest." ' |
