Show DO YOU RECOGNIZE THE EMBLEM? . . . Do you recognize the above emblem for the thing it stands for? By noticing particularly, this emblem, you may save yourself and some worthy honorably discharged service man embarrassment and will be in a position to recognize it's meaning when you see it. The discharge button has been termed, "The Button Nobody Knows," and in more than one case, someone has accosted a man in civilian garb with a a "why aren't you in uniform?" question, when a recognition of the honorable discharge button would have saved them both embarrassment. The Springville Herald is joining with other newspapers of the nation in an effort to make it "The Emblem Everybody Knows," and will continue to call your attention to it in an effort to see that its readers become thoroughly familiar with it. A veteran is issued his button free of charge upon his discharge from the service. If the button is lost or destroyed, another can be obtained at cost (seven cents) by the veteran on presentation of his discharge papers to the quartermaster supply officer at the nearest post, camp or station. The wearer of this button is an honorably discharged soldier. Treat him as such. |
