Show HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS Bonds And Stamps Given As Prizes To Eight Winners From 23 Contestants The first annual Hall of Fame amateur contest, conducted in Springville last Wednesday evening-, was an outstanding- event, successful in every detail, and uncovered un-covered considerable talent in Springville as well as from all parts of Utah county. The entertainment was held in the high school auditorium, under sponsorship of the Springrville First ward, with Melvin Stanwish, and Don Rebber of KOVO acting as masters of ceremonies. A total of twenty-three entries appeared in the final contest, each being selected at a special audition audi-tion several days earlier when eighty-five people entered from various towns in the county. Eight people were judged as winners in the finals and they were presented with prizes ranging from $25 to ?3 in war bonds and stamps. Winners were announced as follows: fol-lows: Ralph Biglow, Provo, first, piano solo, $25 bond; Marlin Hansen, Han-sen, Spanish Fork, second, toe dance, $10 in war savings stamps; Alexander Crossman, Provo, third, vocal solo, $5 stamp; Gordon Childs, Springville, fourth, violin solo, $3 in stamps; Norma Brock-bank Brock-bank and Norma Liechty, Springville, Spring-ville, fifth, piano duet, $3 in stamps; Kay Weight, Springville, sixth, vocal solo, $3 in stamps; Eva Lou West, Springville, seventh, sev-enth, original piano solo, $3 in stamps; Don Gottfredson, Springville, Spring-ville, eighth, vocal solo, ?3 in stamps. Judges of the contest were, Dr. John Halliday of the BYU faculty, F. J. Faux, Spanish Fork high school music supervisor, and Mrs. Alberta Hoover, Springville. At the close of the entertainment, entertain-ment, a number of contest entries were invited to appear over KOVO and the winner of the radio appearances ap-pearances will be given an opportunity oppor-tunity to again be heard over the air.
