Show V 4 Personal News Notes Mr. and Mrs. Parley Madsen and daughter Merle are visiting-relatives visiting-relatives and friends in California. Mrs. Sterling Noakes and children chil-dren recently arrived in Springville Spring-ville from El Paso, Texas, for a visit with relatives and friends. ' Mr. and Mrs. Alton Harker and children spent the opening of the fishing season in Idaho, joining a party of friends at Ogden. Valetta Fullmer and Marcile Waters are spending the summer in Salt Lake City, where they have employment. Miss Louise Storey has gone to Salt Lake City, where she has accepted a position with the Fuller Ful-ler Paint Co. Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Boyer and family have gone to McGrath, Alberta, Al-berta, Can., for the summer. Mr. Boyer will manage a canning factory fac-tory there. Katherine Weight, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Weight, is spending her vacation in Springville. Spring-ville. She has been employed at Los Angeles, Calif. Lee Davis has returned from San Francisco, Calif., where he spent a week on business relative to his work at the Columbia steel plant. Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Ford and two sons have returned to their home in Concord, Calif., after a visit of several days with Mrs. Ford's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Reynolds, and daughter Phyllis. . Mr. and Mrs. James Allan and son Collin spent two days of the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hopla and family. They also visited visit-ed other friends and relatives at Mapleton. Paul Packard visited over the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Packard. He was coach at West high school, Salt Lake City, last year and is now attending summer school at the University of Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Stuart of Ogden, visited here several days I at the home of the former's . un- cle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rich-ard Stuart. They were accompanied accompa-nied by their son Thomas, who has been home on leave from the U. S. Navy. He is on a transport and has made . many interesting ocean trips to foreign ports. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bird and Mr. and Mrs. Byard Bird and children chil-dren went to Salina Tuesday to attend funeral services for Mr. Bird's sister-in-law. Louise Long visited over -the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Long. She left from Salt Lake City Sunday to spend a vacation with Lt. and Mrs. Paul E. Beals (Venice Pennington) Pen-nington) at Merced, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Averett of Alhambra, Calif., are visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Averett, and with other relatives and friends. Monday evening, eve-ning, in company with Mr. and Mrs. Averett, they visited relatives at Mona. Mrs. Jack Hopla and son Harold Har-old have returned from an enjoyable enjoy-able trip to California. While there they visited with Mrs. Hop-la's Hop-la's mother, Mrs. Ida Strong of Huntington Park; her sister, Mrs. Myrl Rowley and family at Comp-ton, Comp-ton, and Mr. and Mrs. Dell Hopla at Los Angeles. Members of the family also were pleasantly surprised sur-prised by the visit of Pfc. Erwin Strong and wife, who came from Kingman, Ariz. Norma Thorpe writes from Tampa, Tam-pa, Fla., where she is visiting her sister-in-law and baby, that she has met a number of local people including Dean Allan, at West Palm Beach conference recently; Mrs., Veon Bird Morgan, Blaine Brailsford and also Miss Bertha Bearnson. Although not in the service, she sends her appreciation of the home-town paper and states that she enjoys her ork and visit in Florida as well as the church services held there regularly. Mrs. Florence Stone and son George Stone of Mapleton, recently recent-ly returned from Stockton, Calif., where they attended the funeral service for Mrs. Stone's sister, Mrs. Charlotte M. Thompson, 50, wife of Chris Thompson, who died May 25. She was a former resident resi-dent of Mapleton, moving to California Cali-fornia about 25 years ago. Another Anoth-er sister, ' Mrs. Royal Binks of Mapleton, and a brother, John Gale of Helper, survive, as1 do also five daughters, all in California. Mrs. Ted Larsen and daughter, Mrs. Margaret L. Roberts and little lit-tle daughter Ronnie, returned this week from an enjoyable two weeks visit with relatives and friends at Pasadena and San Mareno, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. George M. Mur-dock Mur-dock and daughter Mary Jean of Los Angeles, Calif., are vacationing vacation-ing at the Murdock ranch, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Conover. Marjorie Tull of this city and Thelma Nelson of Spanish Fork, left Friday evening for eastern points. They will visit in Jackson, Mich., Miss Tull's former home, and also in New York, where they will make an indefinite stay. Mr. and Mrs. Mayland Russell and little son David left Saturday night for Massachusetts, for a visit vis-it with Mr. Russell's relatives. He has been overseas for more than two years and recently received re-ceived an honorable discharge from the Army. Paul Harward of El Paso, Tex., and Harold Harward of Cheyenne, Wyo., have been visiting here the past few days, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sumsion and other relatives. Mrs. Dick Rothwell, the former Ethel Crandall, is visiting relatives rela-tives and friends here from Arco, Idaho. |
