Show tfedding Reception Sat. Honors Young Couple . MRS. HELEN ANDERSON ENTERTAINED THURSDAY evening at her home for members of "We Readers." Mrs. Helen Thorpe in a delightful manner reviewed re-viewed the book, "Drivln' Women," by Elizabeth Pickett Chevalier. Delicious refreshments were served to Margaret Conover, Elva Tipton, Laura Alleman, Lillian Thorpe, Mamie Blackett, Inez Bird, Helen Strong, Helen Thorpe, Ruth Sumsion, Mary Bird, and Geraldine Simmons. MR. AND MRS. EDWARD CLYDE ENTERTAINED AT DINNER Sunday at their home for Sgt. Kenneth Terenja, Pvt. James Ishi-moto, Ishi-moto, Pvt. Isaac F. Akinaka, all of Honolulu, Hawaii, Mr. and Mrs. Hilton A. Robertson and daughter, Norma, and Mr. and Mrs. Vern L. Dickman of Salt Lake City. The three young Japanese men came from Honolulu June 10, with 1100 other Japanese in the TJ. S. army. They have been stationed in Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. Having a 5-day furlough, they came to Utah to visit church headquarters. The men are very good friends of Grant Clyde and Clarence Tuttle of Springville, missionaries in the Hawaiian Islands. " Kenneth Terenja had investigated investi-gated the church for about two years but had not been baptized, as had the other two men. Kenneth asked for permission to be baptized bap-tized here and it was granted Sunday Sun-day afternoon, when he was baptized bap-tized by Hilton Robertson and confirmed con-firmed by Vern Dilman, recently returned from the Hawaiian mission. Mrs. Leona G. Clark of Cedar City, sister of the bride, was acting hostess. Receiving the nests besides the bridal party were Mrs. Gudmundson and Mr. and Mrs. Rice. In charge of the serving were Francis Holley, LeJeune Whitney, and Edna Bartholomew. Janet Crandall was in charge of the gift room. A delightful program was given during the evening, with W. R. Wimmer of Lindon and Mrs. Ralph Smith, vocal solos; the Fox sisters, sis-ters, vocal duet; Gordon Childs, violin selections. Accompanists were Barbara Gudmundson and Ralph Smith. Mrs. Grace H. Olsen is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John I. Holley, at Mapleton. She and her husband came from California and he has gone on to Columbus, Ohio, where he will do research work for the Firestone Rubber company at Ohio State university. She will join him later. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bosshard of Mt. Pleasant, were Springville visitors Tuesday, attending funeral services for G. D. Kennedy. Mrs. Erma Gudmundson, her daughter, Mrs. Dan Clark of Cedar Ce-dar City, Barbara Gudmundson and Mrs. Eva Crandall left early in the week for California. They were here for the wedding of Priscilla Pris-cilla Gudmundson. m Mr. and Mrs. John Fennell of Salt Lake City were week-end guests of Mrs. Rose Ward. |
