Show 'OPEN FORUM IS FEATURE OF CLUB MEETING Committee Appointed To Meet With Nebo Board To Discuss School Problems The Kiwanis club meeting will feature a program on the sale oi war bonds and stamps under the direction of F. C. Packard, this evening at Valley Tavern. Reports on the convention held at Sun Valley Val-ley will also be given during the meeting. The club last Thursday evening featured an open forum, with Harold Christensen as toastmas-ter. toastmas-ter. During the meeting, several important problems confronting this city were discussed, among which was the new school schedule sche-dule and the recent ruling passed by the school superintendent and board to cancel football from the school program this year. The club appointed a committee consisting of Harold Christensen, chairman, P. C. Packard, J. T. Bearnson, and Glen Sumsion to meet with the school board to discuss dis-cuss the problems in regard to: class hours for elementary grades, football's place In Nebo District, and a purported plan of the school board to sell portions of the Lincoln Lin-coln school property. The club also passed a resolu-ion resolu-ion pledging themselves to cooperate cooper-ate in every way possible in the collection of scrap metal and other salvage material. The resolution was as follows: "Whereas, this nation is involved involv-ed in a war whose successful prosecution pro-secution demands the best efforts of all the people; and, "Whereas, the homes and farms of America contain a huge amount of scrap material that is urgently needed by war industries for the manufacture of tanks, guns, and other equipment; and, s "Whereas, the government has established in our community a Salvage Committee for the purpose pur-pose of collecting this scrap; "Therefore, Be it Resolved, that the Kiwanis Club of Springville wishes to go on record as unanimously unani-mously supporting the work of this Committeee; and, "Furthermore, that each member of this organization agrees to turn in his own scrap at the earliest possible moment and to urge his friends and neighbors to do likewise." |
