Show WMC REQUESTS 43 MEN FROM THIS LOCALITY Committee Appointed To Recruit Necessary ' Men For Vital War Work At the request of the War Manpower Man-power Commission, Mayor Emil Ostlund called a meeting of representative rep-resentative citizens, heads of organizations orga-nizations and other officials in Springville last week Wednesday evening to discuss what could be done to recruit forty-three workmen work-men from this vicinity for labor in vital industry. An official from the WMC spoke during the meeting, . pointing to the fact that workmen are needed in at least eight jobs, including projects at Boeing Aircraft in Washington; Hanford Engineering Works, Wash.; Kaiser Co., Calif.; Geneva; Naval Supply Depot, at Clearfield; Alaska War Dept.; the Olympic Commissary Co., Wash.; and Pearl Harbor Navy Yards. It was pointed out that wherever wher-ever possible farmers of the locality local-ity should take war jobs when the harvest is finished and in this manner the problem of shortage would be alleviated. In response to the request for more workmen,'- a committee was appointed with Harrison Conover, chairman, to do whatever possible to recruit the necessary number of workers from this locality. |
