Show JAYCEES ACTIVE IN MANY CIVIC POJECTS Conduct Mettings And Flan Active Program For The Year Thirty-five Jaycee members and guests attended the regular bimonthly bi-monthly meeting last Thursday. Those who were there as guests were, Grant Nielsen, U. S. Army, his brother, Earl Nielson, U. S. Navy, Murray Peay, and R. C. Childs. The meeting was under the direction of Ray Klauck and was mainly a business meeting with open discussion taking place on the various matters presented I to the club. The only diversion was the showing of some interesting and enjoyable films which were shown by Ralph Child, taken of the Jaycees' trip to the national convention in Omaha last June. Also shown were various activities activi-ties of the 4th of July celebration, sports films, and news films. Six new members were presented present-ed with their pins at this meeting; meet-ing; they were: Howard Sumsion, DelMoine Christensen, Russen Bird, George Wilson, F. D, Hoffman, Hoff-man, and Carl Peterson. As a follow-up to the summer sports activities of the club the Jaycees 'discussed and are planning plan-ning on playing basketball, bowling, bowl-ing, ice skating, etc., in order to round out a full year of sports and recreation. Recent softball games participated in by the members were with the 20-30 club of Provo, Payson and Nephn Jaycees. The petition to encourage the building of the Polio hospital in Salt Lake City, which the State Junior C. of C. and the Lions clubs are cooperating in, was signed 10C per cent by those attending this meeting. A new committee, that of Youth Welfare, was set up. DelMoine Christensen was appointed chairman chair-man with the committee members to be selected in the near future. The committee should prove very helpful and beneficial toour youth and community. The next regular meeting will be held in Memorial hall Sept. 21st and will be under direction of the Safety committee, of which Lee Miner is chairman. President Ernest Boyer an-1 nounces it is not too early to start talking and making plans for some good wholesome fun and relaxation relaxa-tion to take place during the coming com-ing winter months. Yes, that s right, that is what we are talking about. The "Art City Dancing Club," sponsored by the Springville Spring-ville Jaycees. Although at the writing of this article the dates have not been set, we want you to start talking about and making plans to attend these dances this winter, states Mr. Boyer. Bliss Packard was named chairman chair-man of the Art City Dancing club at the Jaycees Board meeting held Friday, Sept. 8, at the home of Roy Klauck. |
