Show Nearly $50,000 To Be Spent On Civic Projects At Mapleton City Park, Tennis Court, Swimming Pool To Be Constructed And Other Improvements Effected Requiring an expenditure of approximately $50,-000, $50,-000, city improvments are planned at Mapleton with work to begin January 6, according to an announce- tment made this week by Mayor John I. Holley. Government funds have been approved for the projects which will include remodeling of the old Mapleton amusement hall, building build-ing of a city park, construction of a double tennis court, building of a swimming pool installation of two miles of oiled roads and one mile of cement sidewalks. The basement of the amusement amuse-ment building, recently purchased by Mapleton city from the L. D. S. church, will be converted into dressing rooms for the swimming pool to be built adjacent to the amusement hall on, the south. The new city park will be located locat-ed on the corner west of the amusement hall and will comprise about three acres, to be planted in lawn, trees and flowers early in the spring. A double tennis court will be located on the park. The city's portion of finances for the projects has been raised chiefly by the city refunding $50,-000 $50,-000 worth of water bonds out for about 10 years at 6 per cent for 3 per cent, resulting in a saving to the city of approximately $2 4,-000, 4,-000, Mayor Holley said. |
