In line with previous arrangement, samples of milk have been picked up from both large and small producers pro-ducers and dealers and given chemical analysis by Dr. 'Martin of the B. Y. U. His report showed that our milk supply,, both as to bacteria and sediment, is equal' to or better than that of surrounding communities and is generally above the minimum standard demanded de-manded by the State Board of Health. , The sanitary inspector also advised ad-vised that he is receiving good cooperation co-operation from all milk producers and dealers in his efforts to properly prop-erly enforce the provisions of our sani t a r y ordinances, especially with reference to the production and handling of our milk supply. Instructions were issued that the present method of inspection and analysis be continued. Due to the trouble experienced in maintaining a safe volume of water in our headhouse, which had reached a dangerously low level, and the fact that repeated warnings warn-ings both through the paper and personal contact did not result in' any improvement, the council authorized au-thorized the employment of inspectors in-spectors to check up on the illegal use of water. Report from the (Continued on page eight) MILK... (Continued from page one) Water superintendent that a number num-ber of ticekts, either for sprinkling out of regular sprinkling hours, failure to use proper nozzles, and for use of water on vegetable gardens, gar-dens, had been issued to violators, was approved and instructions issued is-sued that the employment of inspectors in-spectors be continued and that the police department cooperate with them in order to avoid the possibility possi-bility of a shortage of water in our culinary system as long as such danger exists. That the measures taken were effective was evidenced by the fact that from a low of two feet the supply had increased until the water had about reached the overflow over-flow point in the headhouse. Director Smeath' of the Utah County Planning Board and Secretary Sec-retary Miner of the Chamber of Commerce met with the council to advise concerning the proposed new sub-division, especially as regards re-gards the responsibility of the City in furnishing the necessary public utilities: water, electric lights, sewers and roads. Certain suggestions as to how far the City would go in furnishing and installing instal-ling the needed facilities were formulated for-mulated and arrangements made to meet with representatives of the sponsors when final decisions will be made. |
