Show - tftews of Social vents .. RRIDH COMPLIMENTED AT SHOWER MONDAY In honor of Mrs. Ennis Woffin-den, Woffin-den, nee Bernice Harmer, a recent re-cent bride. Mrs. Mack Whitney and Mrs. Ruth Harrison entertained entertain-ed at a shower Monday at the home of the former. The entertainment included a review of the book, "Spring Came on Forever,." by Bess Streeter Aldrich, given by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Hun-tington. Musical numbers were given in the form of a vocol duet by the Misses Virginia and Genevieve Gene-vieve Bird. In conclusion a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served to approximately thirty guests who presented the guest of honor with many lovely bridal gifts. AVE DELMA CLUB ENTERTAINED Members of the Ave Delma club were entertained Wednesday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Inez Chader. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Norma Noe, Mrs. Helen Rob-bins, Rob-bins, and Mrs. Hortense Har-ward. Har-ward. Luncheon was served early in the evening, after which bridge was played with high score prizes going to Helen Robbins, Carrie Jolley, and Alice Ence. Present were Birdie Thorpe, Berniece Packard, Coe Straw, Gladys Averett, Dollie Smith, Ann Johnson, Carrie Jolley, Alice Ence, Helen Robbins and the hostesses. MISS SIM KINS HONORED AT BRIDHS PARTY In compliment to Miss Marie Simkins, who will be married today to-day in the Salt Lake temple to Myles Roach of Spanish Fork,, a bride's party was held Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Ed Anthon. A review of the book, "The Loon Feather," by Iola Fuller, given in an interesting manner by Mrs. Blanche Beal, was the feature fea-ture of the entertainment, and as an appropriate introduction to the Indian story, Nedra Beal sang a vocal solo, "Pale Moon." MISS FOX HONORED AT BIRTHDAY PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bird and employees of the Utah Poultry plant entertained Wednesday evening eve-ning in honor of Tonie Fox on the occasion of her birthday. One dozen roses were presented present-ed the guest of honor together with a beautiful white birthday cake decorated in pink and topped with blue candles. Following the serving of a delicious deli-cious luncheon, 500 was played with high score prize for men going to Ernest Johnson, high score for women to Wanda Miner, and consolation to Arvil Bird and Rowena Rigtrup. H I' NT1 NOTON-F1 LLMORE WEDDING PLANS TOLD Mrs. Mae Huntington of this city wishes to announce the engagement en-gagement of her daughter, Mary, to Melvin Woodrow Fillmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin C. Fillmore Fill-more of Provo. The wedding Is planned to take place June 12 In the Salt Lake temple. A reception honoring the young couple is planned to take place Thursday, June 13, in the First ward amusement hall. Miss Huntington is a student at Brigham Young university and is affiliated with the Alta Mitra social so-cial unit of the school. Mr. Fillmore Fill-more Is a former student of the Utah State Agricultural college, Logan, and the Brigham Young university, Provo. GIRLS ENTERTAINED AT YEARBOOK PARTY Miss Ruth Condie was hostess to a group of girls at her home Tuesday evening at a combination yearbook and can party. The evening's entertainment consisted of yearbook writing, and the girls each brought unlabeled cans of food to comprise the courses of the luncheon which occasioned oc-casioned much merriment. Present were Marlon Patrick, Aleen Roylance, Emma Ullock, Kathryn Phillips, Genevieve Ja-cobson, Ja-cobson, Lenore Weight, Beth Hall, Marjorie Whiting, and the hostess. hos-tess. HOME CULTURE CLUB HOLD STASON'S LAST PARTY Members of the Home Culture club were entertained Friday evening eve-ning at the last party of the year at the home of Mrs. H. M. Doug-all. Doug-all. Mrs. B. M. Mendenhall was the assisting hostess. Mrs. D. B. Welch was in charge and after she had given a report of the year's work the meeting was turned over to Mrs. W. R. Eddington, newly-elected president presi-dent for the coming year. Mrs. Maurice Bird also give her secretary's secre-tary's report. The afternoon's program consisted con-sisted of a vocal solo by Mrs. Harold Har-old Christensen; piano solo, Mrs. Maurice Bird", and "The Life of Catherine Cornell" was given by Mrs. DeVere Wadley. Mr. Woffinden is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Woffinden of Le-' Le-' land. Miss Naomi Harmer, maid of honor, and Miss Deeta Woffinden, ' Mrs. Maxine Harmer, and Mrs. Ruth Harrison, attendants, wore i gowns of blue, pink, and green taffeta with corsages of rose- buds and sweet peas. The Misses Mary and Lucille Mendenhall, flower girls, wore pastel frocks. Mrs. Harmer, mother of the bride, wore black taffeta, and Mrs. Woffinden, mother of the groom,, wore black silk crepe. Both had corsages of white gardenias gar-denias and rosebuds. Ray Woffinden, brother of the groom, was best man. The hall was decorated with a profusion of peonies and other spring flowers, and the serving table was covered with a gorgeous lace cloth with a central decorative decora-tive piece of rosebuds and orange blossoms. Mrs. Lucille Harmer and Mrs. Cora Ellis poured. The gift room was in charge of Mrs. Alga Mackley, Mrs. Lucy Roundy and Mrs. Larea Dallin. The program which preceded dancing included vocal numbers 'by Blaine Johnson and Francis Johnson; duets by Mary and John Mendenhall, and Glen Holley and Freeman Bird. Instrumental music I,a JOLIE CLUB MEMBERS HAVE OUTDOOR PARTY A weiner roast at Salem pond was enjoyed by members of La Jolie club and their partners Thursday night. SNIPPER-SNAPPER CLUB ORGANIZED Thursday evening, girls who met at the home of Mrs. Eva M. Bird organized the Snipper-Snapper 4-H club. Miss Colleen Binks was elected president; Dorothy Larsen, vice-president; vice-president; Barbara Bird, secretary-treasurer; Norma Whitney, accompanist; Marie Bennett, song leader; Arleen Whiting, reporter, and Eva M. Bird, 4-H leader. TONIE FOX HONOR GUEST AT SURPRISE PARTY Friends delightfully surprised Miss Tonie Fox Thursday evening at her home, on the occasion of her birthday. During the evening a variety of entertaining games were played, after which tasty refreshments were served. Roses and a beautiful artistically artistical-ly decorated birthday cake In white, pink and green, with the inscription "Happy Birthday Tonie," formed decorations on the serving table. Attending were Mrs. Harriet Strong, Edna Oakley,. An Interesting talk on "New Mexico" was given by the society vice-president, Mrs. R. E. Swen-son Swen-son of Provo. After a short business meeting, meet-ing, tasty refreshments were served serv-ed to those present. FKIENDS ENTERTAINED AT BAGLEY HOME Mrs. Clara Bagley was hostess ' friends at a delightful party Tuesday evening at her home. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed early in the evening at small tables centered with rosebuds, after af-ter which the girls enjoyed a diversified di-versified program of games and discussed current topics. MRS. VTLATE REYNOLDS HONORED AT PARTY v Mrs. Vilate Reynolds, retiring president of the Stake Y. W. M. I. A., was honored by members of the stake board at a party held Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Andrew Peterson. Mrs. Reynolds was presented with a beautiful scrapbook as a token of appreciation for her work. A book review.
