Show BIDS ASKED ON TWO ROAD PROJECTS Announcement was made today to the State Road commission that bids will be called for immediately immediate-ly on two major road projects. One, in Wasatch county, will complete com-plete the grading and graveling of the highway from Deer Creek dam to Charleston. When this project i is completed, that part of the highway will be ready for dustless j surfacing next season. The work involves 310,000 yards of excavation, more than half of which is solid rock. It also calls for 94,000 tons of crushed gravel for surfacing. The estimated cost is $225,000. This is the largest contract in this year's construction and is neces-, sary because of the construction of the Deer Creek dam. This improvement will eliminate elimin-ate the present poor section of road which has not been improved improv-ed for many years because of the impending construction of Deer Creek dam. The new project will be permanent construction and is seven miles in length, half of which is the graveling of the section sec-tion now being graded by W. W. Clyde Construcion Co. The other contract includes gravel gra-vel surfacing and oiling the road from the Logan canyon summit to Garden City and oiling of the project pro-ject west of the summit which was graded and graveled last year. It also includes oiling of approximately approxi-mately two miles of road south of Garden City along the shores of Bear lake. The road from Garden City to the Idaho line will be given a sealing coat with rock chips. Construction will require 57,-000 57,-000 tons of crushed gravel and 320,000 gallons of oil. The project is. 19.1 miles in length and the estimated cost is $70,000. When completed the project will give an oil-surfaced road from Logan to Garden City and on to the Idaho line, and also for two miles south of Garden City. Bids will be opened Friday, June 7, at 2 p. m., In the office of the State Road commission. |
