Show 'GIRLS WIN IN ' TWIN BILL HERE MONDAY ,. Hanks, Twelves Pitch Double Header; Robinson Plays Outstanding Game For Locals The Springville Girls Softball team won a double header here last Monday night when they defeated a Pleasant Grove club 7-0, and South Jordan 9-2. The double header was the first one played here for the girls. Behind the pitching of Joyce Hanks, with Adams catching, the locals disposed of the Pleasant Grovers handily. In the main game of the evening, eve-ning, Marie Robinson, who played her best game up to date, clouted out a homer, and two singles in four trips at the bat. Behind the "power drive" pitching of Beverly Twelves, the South Jordan girls were able to connect for only two hits, those being made by Pitcher M. Oakeson, who played a nice game for the visitors. The Springville girls took an early lead, scoring heavily in the tirst lour innings, on nits Dy rtoD- i inson, Patrick, Hanks, Hinckley. The end of the sixth inning found the visitors on the tail-end of a 9-0 score. Pitcher Oakeson, for the South Jordan club, clouted out a clean hit in the final inning which accounted for the two runs made. The Springville team will meet the Pleasant Grove ten in a return game at Pleasant Grove Monday, Aug. 21. They are planning to enter the girls' state Softball tournament tour-nament in Salt Lake, later in the month. |
